Hi, I’m Kathy! Thank you for visiting my portfolio.
For as l long as I can remember, learning has been a passion of mine. Not only do I love to learn, I absolutely love being a designer, developer, and deliverer of learning experiences. I have enjoyed doing just that in the classroom for over seventeen years. My love of designing instruction has now led me down a new path, and that is one of Instructional Design.
I am a learning experience designer who is intentional about finding learning solutions that are both effective and engaging.
I believe learning solutions should be:
Intentional - Not all learning solutions are created equal. To determine the best solution, I must first ask, “What do they need to do, and why aren’t they doing it?”
Individualized - One size does not fit all. I must first get to know my audience to understand how to meet their needs best.
Inclusive - Being an expert on all subject matters is impossible. I must work cooperatively with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design effective learning solutions targeting the specific need.
Interactive - Learning should not occur in a vacuum. I must create content that immerses the learner in real-world situations while allowing them to choose how they might respond.
Responsive - With feedback, one can take advantage of the opportunity to learn from their mistakes. I must design learning experiences where feedback is shared as soon as possible and the consequences of one’s choices are experienced in a risk-free environment.
Evaluated - Developing a learning solution is not a one-and-done process. Once implemented, I must evaluate the effectiveness of the solution on four different levels: reaction, learning, behavior, and results, and then be willing to improve upon it.
Simply put . . .
I will work tirelessly to customize a learning solution that meets your audience’s needs. In the process, I will use innovation and creativity to design and develop an effective and engaging learning experience. My unwavering determination and persistence will help generate the behavior-changing results you desire.
so we can explore potential learning solutions together.
